How can this be? this guy is selling not a Norvin, but just the registration document for one. In his name. for £5000!! He says this would be useful to someone wanting to build a Viscount, a well known special with a Black Shadow engine in a Norton Manx frame. So who has the bike in the V5C? My mind is well and truly boggled!!

The document would be no good to anyone. Is that haddock or cod I smell?

I am well and truly puzled. He says in the advert The V5C is in my name and is non-transferable so how can it be of any use.
To transfer the number the vehicle needs to be road worthy with a test certificate so again of no use at all.
Its a bit like the old one of selling a photograph of an item

No puzzle, no fishiness.
Build yourself a bike out parts legally or otherwise obtained, overstamp numbers to suit the V5c and Hey Presto you have a Vinny!

Yes, and by the time he has written to the DVLA with the old "Lost my V5C" story and sold half a dozen, there will be half a dozen vinny's worth the same frame numbers maybe? And wait until the owners all try and register them!

Then the DVLA get wind of it, and they will sell us our old enfield V5C's for £1000.

This should be stamped on now!

Some low-life tried to clone the age-related number on my Connie-framed bitsa, first I knew about it was when I had a letter from DVLA stating someone else had applied for a V5C for my number, and asking if I still had the vehicle. I wrote back stating that I most definitely DO still have it and that anybody else trying to get a V5C for my number was doing so fraudulently (good scrabble word, that). A.

I did offer said gentleman £2.75 p, but he came back with a counter offer of £4750.

I've been offered £2.20, but my offer was declined.

If he does manage to sell this, I will be doing my own eBay auction for rocking house sh*t, which can be licked off my boot for £500.

I wonder what the DVLA what to make of this?

Damn dictation phone!!!

Meant to say, I then offered him £2-20 and in the message to seller added that I would throw in a packet of peanuts, but it got rejected. You just can't please some people.

I was hoping for the guy to come back and ask if I was taking the p*ss. but he didn't fall into the trap! Bugger.

Just come across this. The only one who talks any sense is beezabryan. How do you all think Nortons & Tritons are built in this day and age. As for the notion there are lots of duplicate v5c's floating around for 50k motorbikes the why would anyone who owns one do that ? More likely it's been exported or broken up and the v5c is surplus to requirements.
