Hi all,
I'm shortly taking delivery of a new B5 Bullet. The dealer asked if I fancied a replacement exhaust from Hitchcocks fitted when I take delivery. I did listen to one which had one fitted and it gave a very pleasing sound indeed. However, I don't want to frighten the neighbours just yet, plus I thought I'd get used to the bike before I even consider tinkering with it (if it ain't broke, don't fix it) but are there any exhaust modifications that you would consider adding to a modern Bullet from the Hitchcock's catalogue?

That's a question I'd love to see answered. My exhaust has a loose baffle or something, and buzzes and fizzes at certain engine speeds. I'm worried, though, that a replacement might be too loud. I like to ride discreetly.

Not trying to spoil what you are after, but would there not be issues with any warranty claim you may have to make, even if the dealer were to fit a non standard system? Just my thoughts, and trying to make sure you don't suffer if it all goes wrong! LOL Chris.

Off to the shed has a good point, what would they say if you returned the bike with some fuelling problem etc.

But i do like a bit of BARK and DRRAW when blipping down the box through the village. Brings out the hooligan in me thats been almost regulated/stifled into submission these last few years.
May not wear the studded leather and wellingtons/white socks anymore but in my head i do....

Here in the West Midlands/Staffordshire area most drivers seem to be blind and are totally incapable of noticing my Bullet! A bit of exhaust noise is therefore an essential safety device - unless they are deaf as well!!!

To be honest it was the dealer who suggested putting one on, so I wouldn't anticipate any warranty issues! He suggested they were somewhat 'over-baffled'.

So come on then, guys: Deanobats and I still need to know which one to use!

I fitted a "reverse cone megaphone" style one to my 2011 B5 and it was far too loud for my liking. Went back to the standard and really have no probs with it at all. Reasonably quiet yet still has that nice "single" sound. It almost seems a rite of passage to fit a different silencer in a a modern UCE but it beats me as to why.-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Perhaps i'm the odd one out here as all my bikes (CB500 & C90) have the OE silencers and they work well with adequate performance. I think the only way I'll change from OE is if the OE prices are too high when it's replacement time.

Steve... The OE prices are too high. In fact they are astronomical!!! 700 quid for a new silencer. AND they are chromed THEN welded and not vice versa. So expect dodgy silver paint covering unchromed weld... which will peel then rust through.
