[Sweeper]

Hi all
After fitting a new carb to the crusader I still cant get the thing to idle its either way to high or it hunts at low revs
points/plug ok
No air leaks
It runs fine when on the move just wont idle
Has anyone any pointers??

That type of problem with idling can often be caused by a weak pilot mixture setting. The cause is possibly that the tick-over has been set using an incorrect method, resulting in the pilot air screw being set further out than would be ideal, and the throttle stop screw being screwed further in than is ideal – a combination that results in a weak pilot mixture. The problem may therefore be remedied by following the correct sequence for setting the tick-over. If that does not cure the problem then maybe a larger pilot jet may be required. Hi Rob, is the auto advance mechanism working ok? Lots of them can become a bit sloppy, with backlash in them due to tired springs and wear in the moving parts. New springs alone might help steady the idle a bit, even with a fair degree of wear. Cheers, Paul.
