I fitted hosts single seat to my Electra X over winter and can confirm that putting the bolts through the springs is very hard work but possible. The overall look of the bike is improved in my opinion although I do find the seat higher. If anyone knows of a way of lowering the seat I would be very interested. Having looked at new single seat bullets in local motorcycle dealership they appear a lot lower to the frame and tank which probably makes for a more comfortable ride.

Perhaps I should say that the seat I'm trying on the Sixty5 is the pan, or "tractor" seat. It will probably be quite comfortable to ride on, but not when I stop!

Exile, Thanks for the comments on its height.

The catalogue shows an English and an Indian version. Is it worth paying the extra for the English one? What did anyone buy and any comments? Ta, Chris

Chris, depends which single seat you are interested in. There's the vintage look sprung seat, trials seat, scrambles, and the American style small and large pan seats.

I bought the seat with the English made cover, it is definitely a better quality material , but I did not like the look of it.
It was a bit wrinkly.
I bought the Chief type seat from our hosts, this may not be to everyone's tastes though.
My Sixty 5 came with a lycette type seat fitted, but the springs were fitted at a funny angle, and did not line up quite right!

This seat was Not from Hitchcocks and did not have the correct fitting kit, so a word of warning, buy your seat from Hitchcocks, as they supply the correct fitting kit with their seats, the ones sold on EBay etc do not come with this kit.

My seat was also a Nightmare. To fit as the springs were under so much tension due to being fitted in the wrong position as I did not have the fitting kit .

The chief seat is very well made, high quality, the base appears to be fibreglass so no rusting !!!
Sadly I sold the Sixty 5 before fitting it, and bought a trials style bullet which it would not really suit, however I am buying a Chang jiang CJ 750, and will probably use it on that bike.

Hitchcocks do also sell a couple of other styles of single seat. Worth looking at .
My trials bullet needs a new seat, i will buy it from. Hitchcocks when I make my mind up which one I prefer.

I wonder if you changed the bolts for Allen button headed screws they would be easier to install ?

Thanks for the comments, it's the vintage sprung ones I was looking at; I didn't know if the ones in the pictures further back on this thread were the Indian or English ones.
Always good to read other peopole's thoughts. atb, Chris
