Oh Norm oH!, don't

My breaths becoming all short... A new super meteor type engine, to just bolt in.

I shall go to bed quickly, I have a bullet meteor to dream about!

YAY!

Forgive me for this, but the thought that comes to my mind is: why?

I don't mean why did the guy develop the engine - he did it because it was an audacious challenge and an achievement he could be proud of. I mean why on earth would anyone buy one, when there are many V-twin bikes already on the market, from the common-as-muck to the sublime (and expensive)?

It's an untested engine that (presumably) uses existing RE components. Now that hardly counts as a recommendation! Even with our most rose-tinted glasses on, RE are probably still fast-forwarding their way through the 1990s in terms of technology. Yes, they're coming on fast, but they aren't up there with the Japanese, Americans and Italians yet.

So, although I take my hat off to the guy, who has achieved more than I could ever hope to, I still can't imagine why anyone would risk a shed-load of money on one.

Mind you, despite my scepticism I do like the very low-revving aspect of it.

Dunno about the oil pumps, though. He's doubled the oil flow, but then it is divided over both cylinders, so at the top ends at least, the oil flow is only the same as the stock iron-barrel. At the bottom end there's twice as much oil flying around, but that only puts it on a par with the AVL engine, and well short of the oil flow of the UCE.
