I usually throw the spacers away and make new ones out of half inch pipe, the tube the Indians use is just too soft and you can't keep the pegs tight because it just scrunches up

Thanks Chaps

I suspected as much (well, I would say that now, wouldn't I!) but it's good to have it confirmed.

And thanks for the hint, Norm.

On Slo Poke's right hand side, we've welded the spacer to the frame and the hex bar - so that's going nowhere - but I was thinking of making my own removable spacer out of stainless tube, for the left hand side.

A slight issue that we might have is that, in spite of our efforts to get it right, I think the hex bar may 1/2" too far to the right - which isn't causing mechanicals clearance problems - but may be an issue in left hand corners as we run really-really low.

With apologies to fans of full mudguards.

But we have a cut-and-shut solution.

Stuff the mudguard, what is that alien artefact apparently hovering in front of it?!? I didn't know planet Zorg was selling custom bike bits... A.

I hope that hex bar isn't welded in, if so it is a mile out of position and what happens when the threads strip on the hex bar ?

It's a Mooneyes finned coil cover that we converted to house the ignition switch barrel, Adrian.

It's a bit of a '50s 'Old Skool' hot rod item. Personally, I like it, but each to their own. :-)

And yes, Norm, it is 'out' - but not 'a mile out'. The right hand side is fine, but the left hand side might need some corrective surgery.

As for stripping threads, I suppose the same could be said for any fixed threaded fastener. I'm thinking the trick is not to go at things with a two foot breaker bar and a scaffold tube. :-)

Wish I had a dollar for every thread I have had to weld onto those Hex bars

I was going for 'mood', Leon. :-)

I'll send you a dollar, if ever I need to, Norm. :-)

But seriously, Norm.

Every possible fastener on Slo Poke is stainless steel (so they don't have a tendency to rust themselves together) I keep him CLEAN, and I do all of the cycle parts work on my bike, myself, so I don't have to fear the ministrations of a ham fisted person with a rattle gun.

I suppose if I drop him (which I've done twice in the past 15 years) I'll have a bit more work to do replacing the footpeg hex bar, but heigh-ho.

Welding it to the frame was a structural necessity as we had to pierce through the lower chassis tubes that were placed, in the way, when Slo Poke had custom foot pegs and controls - which I wanted to lose in favour of a more traditional arrangement.
