Stef, can I ask why you haven't fitted sealed bearing in this box, makes it so much harder to keep oil in it. Is this an Indian or English box? English boxes don't have a gasket, no idea why, but Indian ones do. Put a wipe of sealer on the end cover (one with the bearing in it) make sure you have all the studs entered including the detent before you tighten it up. Put some grease on the selector bits and the clutch arm bearing point, outer cover does not need sealing

Well Norm I just ordered the bearings through Hitchcocks, and this is what they supplied me..
It is an english box I believe..I highly doubt the PO ever even opened the transmission to look at his burnt clutch. I put liquid gasket between the gearbox case and the middle cover, that should hold it I believe. thanks, I guess I'll leave the outer cover as is. You don't think it would benefit from liquid gasket?

Stef don't worry about the outer cover you will probably have it on and off a hundred times by the time you get it all sorted

From my experience the staff seem very knowledgeable..I think it's more a case of a company usually selling the item they will make most profit on rather then selling the highest quality. I had an interesting chat about this with Andy the chain man.
