Hi Davie, thats very kind but I live in South Wales ! Bit to far.... I agree Norm, I wish I'd kept my old 350.

Tom you can use the post as we have done out here to flick Electra bits back and forth between members to try and fault find. I think I got both my coil and TCI unit off ebay for about $50 delivered about 25 quid to you and I would not go anywhere without them as spares under the seat after I had a very unplesant experience down in Tasmania in the middle of no where. At least I was with other Enfields but nobody with any Electra spares

Part No USED1554 £25 from our hosts. If it isn't the fault at least you will have a spare for the future.

Norm, some of us just love turning lost causes around (with a growing stash of critical spares to be on the safe side). A.

Adrian, I'm fairly sure the TCI and coil from the UCE can be used on the Electra so these parts will be obtainable into the future hopefully, it is that dam pulse coil that is not a spare part you can get is what irks me. That is the only link in the ignition that will cause future problems for somebody trying to carry spares. I assume the UCE has the same pulse coil. One thing I have just thought of is what triggers the auto decomp on the UCE, if that has something to do with the TCI then they will not be able to use on the Electra I would guess, not sure

Norm, the link I posted previously is a source of pulse coils, I'm pretty certain one of those could be swapped over with some careful surgery of the alternator wires' outer sheathing where they leave the chaincase (no electrical connection at that point, just a common exit into the daylight!). I'm not really up on UCE/EFI models, except that the Carburettor conversion our hosts supply includes an Electra-X alternator and TCI as a repacement for the ECU controlled ignition. A.

Ok thanks Adrian, that proves that the UCE uses a different TCI unit, otherwise they wouldn't have to supply one with the kit, so that leaves the Electra X as a stand alone ignition system TCI unit. At least it looks like MrH will probably continue to stock them into the future for those Electra owners so that is good news. I bought a pulse coil from on of the crank fired ones were were discussing previously in an attempt to see if I could adapt it to fit my Electra, the bracket is completely different, never got around to trying it to see if it would generate a pulse but I sold the bike and it still sits beside me as I type

Update on no spark, the other day i ordered a perlacment TCI unit, i also ordered a coil at the same time(keep as spare)both used items from Hitchcocks.
today i swapped over the TCI unit - still no spark, so i tried the coil along with a new HT lead, New suppressor cap and a new spark plug - still no spark.I have taken off the chain case to inspect wiring inside which all appears good and connected. (3 yellow wires).I'm assuming that the next suspect would be the pulse generator ? I have double checked, cleaned and tightened the earth position behind battery, along with removing the headlamp and cleaning/checking all connections inside the headlamp housing.
