Does anybody know which wires are connected together on a 3 wire stator, I can't remember and I don't have it written down anywhere

From my recent rather explosive experience I found that the two striped wires are connected.

Hi Norm, you join the mid green [or green and yellow] to the dark green [or green and black], the light green [or green and white] stays on its' own. The mid and dark greens are also the ones you swap around if you want more current from a 6 volt charging system. Cheers, Paul.

Thanks Simon and Paul, from what I remember of this stator from a couple of weeks back that it didn't have any of these colours, something like red, orange and yellow. I'll see how it goes, I didn't pull it apart so I really don't know.

Norm, red, orange and yellow are Wipac colours and can be treated in the same manner as I described above, where red is the darkest, orange is middle and yellow is the lightest colour. I know it works because I put one of these stators on one of my Tiger Cubs many years ago and it worked [and still works] fine. Cheers, Paul.

Ok got the colours, nothing like I thought white, grey and green, problem is I don't have an Indian 3 wire stator to compare where the wires go so I could work it out.

Up to you Norm, but I would take the same approach, where white would be the lightest colour, grey next and green the darkest. I doubt you will do any harm if it is wrong, as a last resort just swap them around until you get the desired results.

Norm - on my 3-wire stator (1996 Bullet 500) white is separate (apartheid?) and the coloured ones are joined. ChrisD
