With autumn turning to winter upon us when is the best time to change engine and gearbox oil, service all the things like brakes, cables and so on - now, before winter sets in so the bike is well sorted for the spring, or in say February? The key issue is whether to do it now or leave the old oils and so on in and around the bike for another five months.

Last winter I left it all to the last minute. I do make a point of starting the bike once a week though, just to keep the innards oiled...

If your laying the bike up for winter. I would change the engine Oil before doing so. Its best to have clean oil so you don't have all that corrosive combustion residue that its caught all though the summer sitting in it all winter.
