Although it hasn't been on the road for several years, I have a T150V Trident [32 years], which I fitted a Hyde 850 big bore kit to. I once fitted three new sets of points to it and it has always started within the first couple of kicks - even with a virtually flat battery, run smoothly and idled evenly. I had another T150V for a while, with B.B. electronic ignition fitted, this machine was no easier to start and ran no better than my long term one, which started up without too much fuss a few months ago after laying undisturbed for not far off 10 years. My Enfields all have points, except for the racers - there was once an occasion where our first 500 racer packed up going around the hairpin on the Cadwell mountain circuit, due to a tiny spec of something getting between the points while it was leaned over while leading a novice race and on the last lap to boot - that was reason enough to go for electronic ignition, but in exceptional circumstances !
