Gentlemen! I seem to recall in recent postings an opinion on using the above NGK plug as opposed to the standard or Iridium item for the 500 Electra. I was wondering if any one out there has anything more to add with this trial. I have over the last year removed all the lean burn gubbins fitted a free breathing exhaust and our host`s Amal upgrade. I have tried this plug myself, adding an extra spacer which gave me the same reach as standard and It appears to start and run fairly well but I would like a more knowledgeable opinion as to wether I might be courting some pending Doom as the central core looks quite pale ie running quite hot if I am not mistaken.

Hi NICK G}----- Yes, I ran one in my 2005 Classic 500 for a while( with forged piston running at 7:1 approx. ). Top rpm held in 3rd uphill OR pottering around town in 3rd/4th/3rd/4th---you know the situaton BUT}-- all seemed OK. I have my carb. breathing through a "Tea caddy" and is jetted as standard with the needle clip in the No.4 position with a slightly less restrictive silencer----- actually the standard "Long-Tom" with 6" cut out of its length. Like you I also put an extra washer in to bring the nose back to original position. I can't find any fault with it at the moment-----currently evaluating the Irridium plug but carry the BUR6ET in the tool kit. I believe the heat range to be compatible with the standard single electrode plug so I don't expect any ARMAGEDDON, or CHINA SYNDROME scenarios. That's just my experiences---hope it helps ?????

The only advantage of fitting these plugs is they last a lot longer; you should get at least 20000kms from one once you select the correct heat range. Don`t expect easier starting or more power.
