I have just bought a Mk 1A 1967 Interceptor and would like to lower the seat - using modern gel type padding.
Has anybody carried out such a mod? If so, do you have details of the outfit which did the work and any photos please.
Cheers.

I don't think you need to go to the lengths of altering the foam. I have a Mk1 and a Mk2 (same seat as the 1A) and although there is a difference in the seat base shape a big part of the extra height is in the brackets. if you were to use the earlier front brackets from the Mk1 (44619 and 44620,) you could lower it that way? Alternatively, fit the earlier seat 44621. I tried this option on my Mk1 (which also has the same seat as yours!) before I found a genuine correct seat and it was both more comfortable and looked better, at least to me! REgards, Mark

Lowered the saddle on the better halves M750. Had about 1" cut out of the height. It was ok initially but on longer rides it wasn't that good so we had it opened up and a gel insert let into the foam. Huge improvement, well worth the trouble. The work was done by a local upholsterer in Plymouth.

Hi, Whilst I could post a photo there wouldn't be much point as it looks the same as the original. With the cut down look already used for Ducati Monsters we just left the cover in the original position with the foam cut out under, the cover stretches when you sit on it, thus the bike looks original.

I know it sounds odd not moving the cover to suit the foam but the chap who did is has done many this way, the Monster was done 3 years ago and the cover hasn't pulled or distorted in any way.

Cheers

Ps. If you're really interested I'll post a photo but it'll just look like a Monster saddle
