It's worth a look at the website, there are varied and interesting arguements on both sides, both for and against testing for historic vehicles. In my experience of true historic bikes they are invariably beautifully kept and maintained. Of course cheapo, budget 15 or 20 year old runabouts from the "less than £200" classifieds may be a different matter. I do resent the £29 charge for the ticket which is for little more than a cursory glance over my machine but my MOT station does supply tea, bacon butties and a chance to talk bike while you wait. And I guess the sight of a clueless, 8 stone, 16 year old saturday boy trying to start a big single is worth the money on its own! However if a tester ever failed one of my bikes or spotted anything I'd missed I'd be utterly ashamed of myself because my old lady gets a more thorough looking over than any MOT test before every single run out. For me a rolling cut-off of 50 years is OK.
