I found that they were only good for one use particularly on the oil feeds to the head. I swapped them for soft aluminium washers which also only work once as they work harden but they are available locally.

Simon one thing I have found with those banjos is the surface on them is very average, run a file over the face and they are usually all over the place. I usually make my own washers from a thick hard gasket material and they seem to work the best. Place where I have had most problems is the 2 oil feed banjos at the rear of the motor on the twins and the only way I seem to be able to stop leaks there is with the washers I make, not a lot of success here with the Dowty for some reason

I have had great success with Dowty washers on the oil drains and oil feed banjos as well. I put a thin smear of grease on them before fitting which seems to help with making them re-usable.

I believe Dowty also made the pneumatically sprung front forks on some Velocettes, and panthers. They eventually leaked with wear, and had springs fitted to convert them.
