Thanks Norm/Scaly I have gone through the wiring diagram and can still only find one!The frustrating and challenging thing I find I which would make them ideal custom bikes is that they are all different!Even bikes of the same model and approximate year seem to have whatever was handy at the time fitted. For example keys and springs etc. My centre stand is a bit floppy up and down so bought new springs for the 5 speed model the RH one seems ok But the LH one when taken off is about 140cm and is probably stretched the nearest one our Hosts do is a 130cm side stand spring which I may try!!the rest are 200mm-16omm same as ones from India. ,Sorry going off topic a bit there

A week on from mystery melty wiring and we have another electrical bit of joy. Something is up, no relays engaging, probably a fuse but wont get a look until at least Sunday. Bike back on life support...

A short look last night revealed a loose connections at the main ignition switch. Bike lived... got halfway to work... then died again. RAC man was with me for ages (bless him!) and we found a broken/rusty red wire between 2 of the 3 fuses (yes, the EFI bike has, for one of its circuits, two 20A fuses in series! Granted, other circuits also run throguh those fusesm but seriously!!!?). We reconnected the rusty red wire to see what happened and voila! At least for a while. The bike came back to life, but only briefly. A quick check of the relays showed that one was a bit ropey, quick change and again, voila! It runs.

BUT.......... NONE of the lights on the right hand side work! The wee neutral wanring light, main beam warning light and indicator warnings lights don't work either. The tail light doesn't work, nor does the brake. The healight DOES, and left turn signals do. The left hand pilot light is good, the right one isn't. ARGHHHH

So, I rode the bike to a 'new' autoelectrician to give it a once over. The broken wire was right at the location of the previous repair, so I am not too pleased about that. Have asked for a quote to rip out the wiring round the fuses, renew it and provide a more modern fusing arrangement. Not fun times. If I didn't have 2 kids under 2 I would try and fix this myself, but I simply don't have the time.

Michael, is there any history on this bike as to why you are having so many electrical problems. I would invest in a soldering iron and some hearshrink and get in there and remove all the connectors and solder and heatshrink them , can't be any worse that what is going on now and if you do it yourself you will have a much better insight into what is going on if you have further problems and going by what has been happening I suspect it will continue. The time you have spent stuck on the side of the road and getting to and from Auto elects by now you could have had the problem sorted and saved some money.

Well I`m a bearer of bad news, once a burnt circuit always a burnt circuit even if you repair/replace part of it. Also any damage to them wires/insulation inside them looms. You know what I`m getting at. P.S. I`m no expert.

probably right Jaffa all depends on how much and which wires have been damaged, might only be the one wire from the battery to the ignition switch, hard to tell via internet

Overcharging apparently. Battery was quickly up to around 17 volts. New reg-rect should solve it...

Michael it might be an idea to fit a volt meter to it so you can keep an eye on what is going on. You can get them from ebay waterproof, vibration proof for tuppence halfpenny. It won't cure the problems but might give you warning that something isn't right
