The Boyer is in. The bike starts and runs. Proving that even someone with as limited electrical skills as I, can fit one of these.

Thanks to Wayne at Hitchcocks for the tech support. And thanks again to all the guys here who answered my calls for help via this forum.

Hi again Exile your bike seemed to be running good when we had a ride out at Amager. What made you go electronic? And does the bike have a smoother running/better starting now? regards Jacob

I can't say I've been out on him yet but he runs well on the stand. It was the 'fit and forget' side of going electronic that seemed appealing. I thought I'd give it a try and despite my meagre electrical skills, it was a simple fit.

I may need to fine tune it at a later date but that is apparently very easy and done by moving the plastic plate which holds the coils just like the old advance and retard on the points breaker system.

I must have done something right though, he started right up on the first kick.

Seeing that the weekend has passed with adequate time for a ride or two, how is Thumper doing with his new sparker?

Unfortunately, the weekend has been used away from home in the company of 'family'... maybe tomorrow if the sun shines..!! I promise I'll give a report once we've been out on the tarmac.

And so much space on the road on

a Sunday morning. And cold. Riding season is about the end. At least for me.

What is the old adage.. "Some adjustment necessary."

I road tested Thumper with his new electronic ignition today. At first he wasn't much for it, missing at all speeds in all gears as soon as the revs went up. I stopped and made a quick roadside adjustment to the timing plate, advancing it a little and WOW.. what a difference.

I think it's right now. Acceleration seems smoother than ever and the engine seems to be a bit more 'eager', if I can use that term, to get away. He wants to run and makes no secret of it.

If it wasn't so cold, I'd still be out there.... I'm calling this a success. Roll on the good weather.

Exile, when I fitted the kit to my bike I did the same, ride a bit, tweak a bit, and so on. Given that the bike starts always starts first kick, give good mpg and the pulls very well i would guess that the timing is about right.

I wonder how many people bother to set up the timing with a timing lamp?

Yep, I recently fitted the Eureka system and after first starting Tinker was popping through the exhaust a bit. After moving the back plate a tad she runs beautifully, never been better.
