That is right Simon a left hand fork leg for disc brake and while they were at it probably wouldn't hurt to make a drum brake one as well. You can get in India a complete pair of fork legs for $200 posted, same thing we have just had to order for a mates 2008 Triumph Scrambler, $1500 plus postage, there is a reason why the quality is better

2000 500 classic and my front left fork broke in the same place.
Very poor quality ally.
65years old and not caning it, just nice steady riding.
Replaced with new part from our hosts and now done 43000Ks

I have emailed MrH and he is going to look into getting a reinforced left leg made which I think is a major safety factor. People spend a lot of money on helmets and safety gear and I think this is just as important. Luckily all the legs that have broken, haven't speared somebody off a cliff but it is only a matter of time, problem is, bike at the bottom of a cliff with a broken fork leg, everybody assumes the leg broke in the fall off the cliff not the other way around

I have been following this thread a little, but I wonder if the forg legs on my EFI bike are a little different? I don't know? Anyway, my lower left fork leg (the biot the wheels and caliper attached to, into which the chromed main tube which contains the spring slides) cracked very, very easily when I was trying top refurb them a few weeks ago. I bought a completely new left stanchion and refitted. Is it the lower bit your guys are worrying can crack or break? Or is it the main tube you are debating? Essentially, where did the fork snap... and is the fork design you are talking about the same as the fork design on my Bullet EFI Electra?

Hi Michael it is the fork slider, they break just above the strengthening rib up the front and just above where the caliper bolts on, the break is clean with no sign of any distortion, my belief is it is metal fatigue
