Papa from what I could read these recall were done by the manufacturer, I have never heard of Enfield recalling anything because being Indians they don't believe anything is wrong with anything they do "we have never had this problem before" To make matters worse any part the factory rejected because it wasn't up to scratch, instead of the part being scrapped they are flogged off to the ebay sellers so that the poor mug who buys a part that doesn't fit or isn't true, try buying a true drive shaft for a Bullet, you can't, and they know it is too difficult for the buyer to get their money back or a replacement and usually you don't want a replacement because it is usually as bad as the part you already have

All 2009 models but it doesn't say what the recall was for and that will only be in the States and the dealers wold have to sort that out while the Indians would remain in denial

Defect Summary

Classic Motorworks is recalling 196 model year 2009 Bullet Electra E-5, Bullet G5 Classic, Bullet G5 Military, and Bullet G5 Deluxe motorcycles equipped with the unit construction, EFI engine. These motorcycles can experience third gear galling on the clutch shaft due to lack of lubrication. This condition can allow the gear to seize to the shaft, causing rear wheel lock up.

Consequence Summary

This could result in a crash that could cause injury or death to the rider.

Corrective Summary

Dealers will inspect and replace the third gear and clutch shaft with increased clearance free of charge. The recall is expected to begin on or before June 29, 2009. Owners may contact Classic Motorworks at 1-800-201-7472.

Norm, 'fraid you are a bit off on your knowledge here. Around 200 of the very first EFI bikes were recalled by RE worldwide (most of the first 250 off the production line, mine being one of them). 3rd gear changed and a great big hole drilled between the gearbox and the clutchcase to allow more oil flow. My bike was away for about a month in the middle of that summer.

Sorry Michael I remember hearing something about the gear box problem but my interest in the UCE's is minimal and I never heard of any recalls of any sort out here

It was a really small number that got recalled - probably just the first batch or so off the line. And dead early too, only about 4 months after they were released. So it isnt surprising that not many know about it.
