The seat fitted to my 2003 Royal Enfield Sixty 5 is fine when being ridden but at junctions etc when you put your feet down presses on the inside of my thighs.And is very uncomfortable and on the balls of my feet with a bandy leg stance (I am not tiny I can put both feet flat on the floor on my Bandit which is a taller machine)I dont know if the dual seat is original as I have just bought the machine (and love it!)Any suggestions would be gratefully received!

Take the seat to an upholsterer and get the seat foam cut away/shaped at the front of the seat to narrow the seat.

Thanks but its not the foam there is a hard rim on the seat base where the seat bells out above the tool boxes almost shaped like an arrow head.Thats what digs in I dont mind (well not to much anyway!) Getting another seat but wondered if anyone had had a similar problem could recommend one or a fix? Failing that its a change from Grumpy to Bandy!!

PS maybe a solo seat will be the answer but I do prefere dual seats.

Sounds like your seat pan is too wide for you. If you have a metal base there is a way, but it is a big(ish) job. It involves stripping the seat right down to the pan. Remove any mounting brackets and cut a section out of the middle (fore and aft). Mig or tig it back together, brackets back on , (over-wide)foam back on. The foam can be accurately resculpted with a flapwheel in a drill- A very light touch is needed for good results, Make card checking templates of sections along your foam to guide you.large parts to be removed can be done with a stanley knife, then "buffed" into final shape with the flapwheel. - This is how we used to "adjust" prototype seats in the car seat factory I used to work at. needless to say, alot of bike seats were re-made on nights . It is an easy matter to unpick your old cover, remove or nip out an equivalent section to the one you removed from the base, trace onto new leatherette, cut out and stitch together. Cover back on - Voila - new custom seat!

There are simple bolt on choices, modifying the existing seat which will require any level of difficulty, or possibly fitting a seat from another make. I have seen a Velocette Venom seat fitted to an Enfield, which gave me the idea to fit one from a Goldstar. Had to fabricate a few brackets and modify the top of the rear fender for it to mount. Anything can be done, just depends on the amount of work one is willing to do.
