Feeling your bike's pain.



Today it rained like buggery here between 10:30 and about 4pm. Tornado's fuel switch was on reserve from the day before and I knew that the next day's trip to the Hollyville cafe would be on due to the brilliant sun weather forecast.



about 4:30pm, the sun was out and Tornado and I started out for the nearest shell station as Tornado seems to get on well with the VMAX100 octane.



I thought that I felt a slight vibration through the footrests, but was not sure. Having filled up, (and turned the tap back to 'normal', we headed back. I still had the feeling that something might be wrong. acceleration was ok, as was no throttle for coasting, but when i was just easing off the power, I would get a rhythmic vibration through the footrests. I remembered that this had happened before and that it had been loose and missing engine and gearbox studs. I pulled over to check, but everything looked ok, so I travelled the last mile back, but decided this time that I would go check everything out.



The locktite had stopped the nuts from unwinding and falling off the thick engine to gearbox stud, but they were hand loose. Poor Tornado!



I tightened them up and after a quick test ride with reminded me that he has almost no vibration at all, I returned and felt very pleased and relieved that I had done the correct thing by checking the nuts.



All owners of old bikes should have to swear to ensure the pushrod, chain and other adjustments are made as scheduled and the nuts are check every week or two.

Well the rest seems to have ethanol in it, and I don't want to bugger up the cork seals and things.




PLUS... He don't half accelerate well when needed! (Chris set the carb up to run on it).
