Do you have another coil off a car you could test with, seems unusual that a 6 month old coil would fail. How is the condensor has that been replaced? they can cause strange problems

Sorry of course should have remembered that, could be Boyer but I doubt it, not something I would think would fail, but maybe try strobe timing it to see if it is advancing, even that I would not see as the cause but with all this fault finding you have to eliminate all the possible causes one at a time

Have you tried a new plug? Cheap enough to eliminate a possible problem.

I'd definitely give a new plug a try. If it's been running rich because of the new carb it could easily have fouled the plug and with this modern unleaded fuel there is often no obvious sign other than one plug works and another doesn't.

Several plugs tried. A new plug does help a little - which actually could point to the cause being the coil, if you think about it.

Mmmm, we seem to be running out of alternatives here. Could you borrow a known good coil from someone? If you say where you're based someone here might help.

Check for water in the float bowl. My Bullet used to have exactly the same symptoms. If you find water in the float bowl, then drain the tank a little at a time, using the reserve not the main tap, until water stops coming out. Pour the drained and separated petrol straight back into the tank.

Not water in the float bowl. My car is a Diesel! I live in Guernsey, I don't think anyone else on this board is over here. I've convinced myself its the coil and ordered a new one - I'll let you know what happens.
