eddie850 , before choosing new bearings , contact alternative "bullets" parts people (think diesel) there is a modification to alter the crankcase half , and fit a much wider/stronger bearing.

the standard bearing used , is the same as that used on lamberettas!

Someone showing little respect for our host by advising Eddie to go elsewhere for parts & advice.

Lancashire Alan makes a valid point. The standard bearings are far too small for those massive Enfield crankwheels.

Thanks for all the comments & replies, I would like to ask, is there anyone within say 30-50 miles as I would have to ride the bike of Oxford who would be able to to the job for me? paid of coarse.

Thanks Eddie.

Beezabryan Hichcocks do not offer this machining service , I suggested a company that could do it.

Mr Hichcock does not offer rebores , is that subject banned as well?

Hi, I am going to do the job my self. Is it worth doing the mod on the big end while using the standard Indian crank, I can afford the mod but not a new crank which I would love unless anyone has a second hand one for sale.

eddie850 , we may be at cross purposes here , the modification I refer to , is to machine your crankcase to accept a wider and much stronger bearing, after this modification you can use a std or expensive crank, you would have to deliver/post you crankcase half off to a person/machine shop that could do the work.

as well as the link I suggested , other people offer this service , alas Mr hichcock has decided not to offer this service (yet)

Looking at it from my comfy chair i would say if your going racing then fit the best and to hell with the bank manager..

Or if your a steady Eddie on sunday runs then get a new big end fitted and balanced professionally..

New quality bearings and rebuild yourself, this will give a sound bottom end giving confidence that when it comes to the piston and rebore later down the line the cost will be more manageable spread over a period of a year or two...

I know it would be nice to have Hitchcocks Performance written on the flywheel but really we have to live in the real world, especially if her indoors has anything to do with the purse strings..
