I'm currently converting my 2008 Classic Bullet 350 to the bobber look and I'm now focusing on the rear mudguard. I've bought a wide alloy mudguard (it's 150mm/6 inches across and has a flatter profile) which will look quite trick sitting about an inch above the rear tyre. I now need to sort out how to fix the mudguard to the swing arm. I'm looking for inspiration and ideas from anyone out there who has already done a similar modification. If I can avoid the need to do any welding on the swing arm that would be a bonus, as so far, nothing I've done on the bike will prevent it from being put back to original at a later date if desired.
Also, and I apologise in advance if this is a stupid question...if I wanted instead to go the way of hard tailing my Bullet, could I just remove both rear shockers and replace with fabricated steel box section or tubular bars on the shocker mounts as an alternative to the expensive hardtail frame section sold by our hosts? To my mind, this seems on the face of it, a simple and cost effective way of hardtailing the bike, but I've not seen it done this way before which makes me query whether it is a practical solution after all.
Any advice would be much appreciated as whilst I've owned 5 Bullets over the years, this is the first time I've done more than the basic service and maintenance on one.
Regards
Ed
