Hi, 2 stupid questions. 2005 Electra X,

1. Where is the bolt/allen key for checking the gearbox oil level. (The little owners handbook is not very informative.)

2. The previous owner did a magnificent job of keeping HARRY the ENFIELD clean. Can I use SolvoAutoSol polish on the crankcase and primary cover.

As the above questions prove I am new to Enfields.
Many thanks Malc

Hi Malc, looking straight at the gearbox cover, the level screw is located at the lower left corner of the gearbox end cover, about 1 inch up from the bottom of it. Usually, the level screw has a copper washer on it, but that may not be the case with all of them. I don't think the Solvol you mention should do any harm, but you might need a bit of elbow grease to go with it!
Regards, Paul.

The parts book shows the middle screw with a copper washer. I asked at our hosts the same question and I'm sure they told me the same.

Er..... Just looked at my gearbox after a run and the "middle" screw is the lower one, and presumably the level screw. The left screw is well up on back edge of box. Just looks different to the drawing in parts book. Not checked oil in mine since bought so I guess now would be a goos time.

Been out a d checked oil in GB, and of course it is the screw on back edge of gearbox, saw copper washer before I undid it. Just needed about 20/30cc. A other little job jobbed!
