Ok, having fitted the hosts TCI unit (and thereby hopefully mitigating the potential sprag clutch munching)I am considering removing the kickstart lever. I have found that it digs in my leg sometimes when riding, so this is not just a aesthetic thing... I know the purists will be horrified :), but there you go - progress eh! I do have a small tool roll on the rear seat and will probably keep said lever in there...just in case!

Here's hoping for some half decent weather this weekend.

Tzen, I'd like to suggest just moving the lever round a notch, one way or the other, to move it out of the way of your leg. I did that on my Electra X and it was a big improvement. Even though it was lower, it still kick started fine.

Hi Thack, Paul, I have already ordered the hosts chromed spline cover (princely sum of £6), so the lever is coming off at the weekend! Though if I keep it in the tool roll I can't claim this as a weight saving mod :)

I changed my kickstart lever for one from the EFI which folds away at the spline end rather than the 'foot' end. It's also a bit longer so gives a better stroke when you do use it.

Like Thack said move it back a spline or two. Rather painful if it is in the wrong position. I think you will regret taking it off, miles from home with a knackered sprag. I don't think you have immunised yourself from sprag failure because of the new TCI. Incidently does yours spark every time you turn the ignition on?

Hi Frank, no I am not getting the same issue as you, it all seems to be fine. Also had no kick backs yet, but probably just tempted fate with that statement. I will keep the lever in my leather tool roll though, just in case!
