Scaly the reason they have the carb models in India is because they don't have the emission laws that the rest of the world does and Thack you also have to change the rotor because the carb ignition timing is taken off it so I believe so this all ads up to the cost of conversion

I know why they have them in India, I meant, how hard would it be to get the parts, if you wanted to go this way?

also... the EFI has a crank position sensor built in, so I would guess for cost, this would be the same one as in the carb model?

Hitchcocks do a kit for converting EFI to carb...

AMAL CARBURETTOR CONVERSION KIT (EFI MODELS). From the introduction of the EFI bikes in 2009, we have been asked by customers if the bikes could be converted to use a carburettor, many felt that the EFI system was too complicated, would be too expensive to fix, and was restrictive to tune. After much research and development we can now offer a carb conversion for all models in the EFI range. This kit comprises an Amal MK2 Concentric carburettor and filter, ignition box, magneto flywheel and extractor, petrol tap and adaptor plate, spark plug and all necessary wiring, cables and gaskets etc. Extensive dyno testing has shown good increases in both torque and BHP to be amongst the benefits. This kit allows the user to utilise many different exhausts, air filters and other tuning parts on the bike without being restricted by the limitations of the injection system.

PART No. DESCRIPTION PRICE 200117 AMAL MK2 CARBURETTOR CONVERSION FOR EFI £395.00

But... this was taken from last year's catalogue, so don't know if they still do it. Also, without having to harp on and on about this... the EFI was introduced in 2008!!! I have an '08 registered bike!! Maybe that's why I have all these problems, I clearly have the factory 'test' bike ;)

Scaly there is obviously a reason for replacing the rotor MrH would not have it as part of the kit if it wasn't needed. If you think about it if you start replacing the bits needed for the EFI setup pretty quickly the carb conversion doesn't sound too bad

well, I did ask in a post about wether to convert to carb, and the replies indicated not to bother?

I will keep the EFI system for now, but if it starts to play up...

p.s. I cocked up, Hitchcocks supply a rotor timing thing, whereas I was thinking about the EFI crank timer, two different things!

Couldn't help a giggle here after reading Norm's comment further up the page..: "Best to start with something working than trying to fix something that isn't."

That's the spirit Norm. If it ain't broke, keep fixing it until it is....
