A simple question, or two.... On the micarb carburettor, I used to have two thin tubes that lead petrol away In the case of flooding. The one that was placed almost directly under the start assistant lever is missing, including the little copper pipe thingy that the tube was fitted to.

I realise this probably isn't critical to any performance, but..


(1) where do I get a replacement copper tube spigot thingy so that I may restore the plastic piping?


(2)Why was it there in the first place?


Any ideas or opinions are gratefully received.

At the base of the float bowl a small tube is located, usually with a length of plastic pipe attached. This is attached to a longer tube inside the float bowl, the tube is long enough to reach to the top of the float bowl. The purpose of this tube is to drain fuel in the event of the fuel level in the float bowl rising higher than intended.

There is a similar tube and pipe located near the cold starter jet which serves the same purpose, to vent fuel if there is an overflow from the starter jet chamber.

I guess the plastic pipe is attached simply to direct fuel from the engine.
The plastic tube can be bought as a 'spare part' but not the little metal spigot that the pipe attaches to.

Any old bit of copper tube will do if the right diameter. Ebay springs to mind.

Thanks lads.. I'll need to think about this one for a while. I mean, what are the chances of flooding at the cold starter jet? Maybe I shouldn't worry too much about this ..
