The carb that made the most noticeable difference (as in wow factor) for me was the VM32 Mikuni I fitted to a tuned BSA B40, though I've never tried one on a Royal Enfield. I suspect the TM32 might have been marginally better, but I was well happy with it (once I'd fitted an in-line fuel filter). The TM36-31 flat slide pumper on my Electra-X is pretty good, though I also share Simon's love of the Dell'Orto and have a PHF36 on my Redditch/AVL hybrid. This carb was bought unused from someone in Italy on eBay and just seems to run right with the jets supplied, which is nice! This particular one does indeed have a chromed brass slide (like the VM32 Mikuni), though sadly not all of them do.

A

Mauri... this is good news. If I can't get my Amal MK2 up and running good enough (= right timing/jetting combination), I just might buy me a Mikuni TM 32. But I have to say that the MK2 30mm is very powerful on my bike (500 cc, free flowing intake/exhaust, Mr H tuned head, 7,5:1 piston), when it works correct. Good sound too. Jacob
