Just found a loose earth connection on my bike, cleaned the parts up and bolted back together, dry. What's the received best way.. put a bit of WD 40 or something on the now-clean metal before assembly, to protect for the future, or do it totally dry and maybe a bit of Waxoyl or something round the edges afterwards,to keep the water out? Ta

A smear of Vaseline does the job.

Clean metal to metal and smother with as said to keep water/oxygen out.

Vaseline is traditional, but i reckon these days ACF50 takes some beating... not affected by heat or easily washed off..

It does seem a pity to clean it all up nice but not protect it for the long term. Just read this on the website, Paul.

Vasaline for the battery terminals, ACF50 for electrical connectors.

using copper grease is still the best method of keeping electrical contacts corrosion free, and its not a problem that its a conductor, the grease can stay inside the contact, not smeared all over the outside.
