Has anyone else tried these ? They are intended as an energy saving LED direct replacement for the combined Stop/Tail tungsten bulb. I put mine in and it appeared to work - Except when I press the brake pedal, the side and instrument lights come on as well. The sidelights work as normal (the brake light doesnt seem to come on with the sidelights).
Has anyone else experienced the same thing?

yes! both my bullets have them. I seem to remember something was astray with one of them, but it turned out that I had somehow managed to put the bulb in the wrong way up.



It might depend on who's bulb you bought. mine are from Superbrightleds.

P.S. look up a post on here called LED bulbs, it lists different types for bullets.

Yes I've got them everywhere my work bullet. Make sure you use white/Clear LEDs in any colour lenses for best results like indicators and rear lights even my pilot lights have them only thing that has a conventional bulb is the main headlight bulb.

That looks very like the fellow in question! Same, except my 2 dont have the yellow dots. All the LEDs light up red. However, in this case, wrong way round bulb is not the problem. The symptoms are exactly the same as a bad earth, in that when the brake light comes on the sidelights and instrument lights come on. As if the brakes are earthing through the sidelights. If I put the tungsten bulb back in - the problem goes away. If anyone can guess what the problem is and give the correct solution, I will be greatly impressed!( It took me 2 hrs to figure it out and prove it, plus 1 hr to create a solution.)THIS IS NOW A COMPETITION! How smart are you....? I will post the correct answer at 10pm tonight - As this will benefit anyone with limited elctrical generating power who needs a decent headlight. ie anyone witha british bike or using a dynamo...

Remember they are all hand-built. Every Bullet will test you in a different way!



You had a high resistance in your side lights? The tungsten bulb would pass a little current but without lighting, allowing them to work correctly, but with the LED, the current had to find an alternate path?

I bought a couple of dippable H4's but they aren't that good but they a nice blue/purple colour. Alright with street lighting but no good in the country

Blue/purple sounds different, I guess there are different manufactures.



Give it a year and we will all know the best type, look back on this and laugh! But for now, it's the trial and error of finding out that takes the time and money.



Mine came from Superbrightleds, but I don't remember which company made it, but as a full beam, it's brilliant white and acceptable for a steady off road ride home, just not good for roads where things will come the other way. I can imagine if this company did a dippable, then it could be a good contender.

More to the point, If I end up with a very noticeable white light that saves my life just once, then I am well prepared to pay for the 'kin thing, no contest!

Scalyback - Wrong on all counts. My Bullet was made on a production line in a factory in 1951, - so not hand built. A high resistance in the sidelights would either dim or extinguish the sidelights.The wiring loom is brand new. - As in, it was completed at 10PM last night. A tungsten filament is effectively a resistor, so earthing through the sidelight filament and on through the sidelights while there is a direct low resistance path to earth (The bulb body) is a non starter. As I said earlier the old bulb/ bike wiring combination worked flawlessly.
