Great weekend. Met up with Barnes and his pal Neil, hope you guys made it home! Neil won the Most Mishaps Award (created specially for him,) one of which was breaking a throttle cable not far from Hitchcocks on Friday afternoon, they even offered to deliver it to him on the way home, how good is that?! We
had a great day at Castle Combe circuit on Saturday and lots of other things going on. I got to ride a Rickman Interceptor,(great motor but it won't be on my must have list,) and got home after 300 miles very happy. Only fly in the ointment, rotten petrol from the Murco station in Bradford on Avon! Bike didn't behave until I refuelled in Bicester. REgards, Mark

A great weekend indeed Mark. I found the footpeg on the way home but sadly the petrol tank repair didn't hold and after about 50 miles (ironically with the bike running beautifully) the amount of petrol cascading over the engine and, more worryingly, the distributor, meant I had to choose between risking becoming a human fireball or call the AA - I chose the latter! Thanks to everyone there for making it such an enjoyable weekend. Hopefully next year I won't win the same award!

Good you got back, although by the AA. No chicken when fuel and sparks meet! Did Ed get back with you or carry on solo? (Neil didn't say his bike is a 1965 Mk 1 Interceptor and turning into a really nice bike, just bugs to iron out.) REgards, Mark

Hi Mark I was interested to read about your petrol problem. A couple of weeks ago I was out on my Super Meteor and filled up at Morrisons, after stopping for my morning cuppa the bike refused to start until my right leg felt like it was about to fall off, the same happened later in the day and a push start down a conveniant hill was required.

I checked the bike out when I got home and could find no reason for the problem, next run out filled up at the BP garage and I have had no problem since.

Have to look after those left footpegs, doesn't matter about the right ones, plenty of Bullet ones kicking around. Good to see another Mk1 up and running, they are the best Inters because they have toolboxes

hi mark, was great to finally put a name to a face. i had a really great weekend thank you to all. i got home safely with the meteor sounding quite poorly. but i shall remove the heads and fit the hardened washers and see where i go from there. thank you to all. ed

Good to hear all got back safely, great to meet you all. Norm, it was the offside pillion rest that went in the gutter and with his siamese system there's nothing left to hold it all on when that happens. Just a reminder, Home Counties REOC Rally at Henlow Lakes, last weekend in July for more fun with Enfields!

Hi Mark, all the twins should have been fitted with siamese pipes to get rid of that obomination they ended up with on the left foot peg area, particularly with a sidestand fitted

Cheers for the reminder Mark, hopefully Ed and I will make it down there. My tank is at the local fabricators for repair and the Petseal is on order. It's a '64 by the way not a '65 (although the engine is a '65) but no matter! Interesting to read about the different petrol problems - mine rode like a sack of shit on the Saturday ride out which I put down to slow running on a hot day (the plugs were badly fouled by the time we got back) but I had fueled up with supermarket petrol prior. Anyhow, next time I'll be a bit more prepared - a bag full of spring washers!!
