Paul I have one and I've reviewed it here: www.royalenfield535gt.com. You'll find a lot of real world stuff about the bike including Eicher and Sid Lal the CEO. The stainless exhausts from Motad do discolour and I am sure as Hitchcocks say the pipe will too. But in the old days the chrome pipes discoloured and there was cachet in how far down the pipe it had blued - the further it had the harder you were riding the thing. That was the theory. Buy one you'll not be disappointed - they aren't the world's quickest 500 single, but they are real smile makers. It's correctly seen as an unpdated classic single with better engineering - oil tight, electric start, 5 speed box, good brakes etc.

Wayne I did not want to start a new topic on this. Regarding my previous comments. We all know that the front pipe will discolour at the cylinder end, But there should not be dis colouration right the way along to the end of the silencer, as I said previously I have many many S/S front pipes & Silencers for a large variety of bikes, if I knew how I would put some photos on here to show.

I think the 535 GT deserves a better quality system than whats currently on offer, lets face it the Bike already has a few iffy [Indian] parts on it.

Speaking quite personally here as a GT owner its a shame the bike recieves negative comments from some, I think that compared to other EFI models it represents very good value for money. As the bike is produced in India the its fair to expect a few "iffy" parts - it would not be a Royal Enfield without and I am sure many of the older contributors on here would confirm that Redditch sent a few strange bikes out of the gates back in the 50's and 60's too. Motad are a very well established exhaust manufacturer and I am very happy with the quality of the silencer on my bike. If I wanted a top quality bike with no flaws or character - I would of bought a Honda!

As the owner of a de luxe EFI i've looked at the Continental EFI but decided to keep my standard EFI for the moment.I do however own a "Honda" which may compare with the 535 quite favourably : the XBR500 (and also the GB 400/ 500 Hondas)are in my opinion great bikes with (for a Honda)lots of personality.Any one else got / had one of these? If i want to chill out i use the Enfield but if i want to go for a blast at reasonably sensible speeds i use the XBR.For what it is you can still have a lot of fun on an XBR.

I don’t have an XBR500 now but I did have one a couple of years ago. And a very good bike - no question! Mine had a handlebar conversion to replace the clip-ons - more comfy. It was a fine bike, thoroughly reliable and very nice to ride. I did the National Rally Gold Award with it – the whole ride was a delight.

I have to agree with Wayne, it's a really good bike with some compromises in terms of quality and construction. But the basic dynamics of handling, braking and general ride-ability are high. In a way it's a perfect bike for the Royal Enfield demographic in the UK – it's good enough but it's also improvable and we can all have lots of fun adding extras and changing things. Which of course is also good business for Hitchcock's...... but as I've said on my website there is an unfortunate tendency for people to criticise one or two things and then draw the conclusion that the bike is not very good. The build quality and design are at a lower level than Honda or BMW but ownership of those types of machines is just much less involving and rewarding. I'd also say that in terms of smiles per £ the Enfield out ranks them. www.royalenfield535gt for my thoughts and also this week a review of three of the Zero motorcycles - the all electric bikes that are beginning to gain momentum in the USA. Now they are phenomenally fast. Stephen

Guys its not like that I don't like my 535GT, it looks great, handles great, good value for money & when I decide where to go with improving the performance I know I will be over the moon, its the performance that lets it down, I use to own the Original 250 GT in 1966 & I LOVED it !!! and even with the 250 engine it was faster than this new 535 GT [lets not forget were in 2014 not 1960] Regarding the Motad can I just thought they could have done better for the price, that's my many years of experienced S/Steel silencer buying opinion.

I will now wait for the opinions of those who decide to fit the New Performance pack our Hosts have just developed, before I go any further...I just hope it lives up to expectations, if it does the sign me up for one.

A Question For our Hitchcocks

I have just been looking at the performance kit for the 535 on this website,
My Question is,Is there a chance of test riding one of your bikes that have been fitted with this kit, before purchasing the kit?,if so I would like to arrange a visit to your place.

I am very surprised at the No Reply to my previous post,I thought I would have got a Maybe at the very least from hitchcocks,I know am not the only one who is keen to test the 535 GT upgrade but I would want a test ride before shelling out a few hundred quid and if hichcocks are confident in their performance package they should be confident in offering this service "try before you Buy"
