Hi all,
Recently adjusted drive chain on my electrax, got notches same both sides and locked everything up.
Just out of curiosity I thought I would check alignment with trusty string,I have now got wheels aligned but chain side its two notches away from dot and other side on the dot.
Is this common or should I try again??????

Most are like that to a greater or lesser degree, use dots only as a guide..

if you checked with string or straight edge then all is well, don't worry be happy... gwilly

I can't understand why anybody would trust dots put on those cams by Indians

Not done mine yet but think they are snail cams, any case does the rear sprocket run in the middle of the chain without touching the sides? Also check the play with somebody sat on the bike with both feet up (chock the side stand a bit).

The dots match on my Bullet. Anyhow, string is difficult to use as the rear tyre is wider than the front. The only accurate way is to make a straight edge with an offset to go around the centre stand, or buy a paddock stand as used for bikes with no centre stand.

Get someone to follow behind you. It's obvious if the wheels are out of alignment.

Thanks everybody for your replies,Leon the rear tyre is 1/2" wider than front so used 1/4" packing each side of front tyre,so hopefully all is well, thanks again

Hi guys----------------SA(Lincs), just a thought but did you actually measure the overall width at front and rear rather than go by the tyres rated sizes ??....I'm guessing that you did ??........This method will also show-up any deflections in the forks as well..........Here's a handy tip}------------------------- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RBxK-OQ--fg -------------
