The horn on my 2005 bullet has stopped working properly. I checked with a test lamp, and found the button to be delivering current OK, and if I put pressure on the central part of the horn it makes a pitiful strangled sound, though even this is a bit hit and miss. Any ideas greatfully appreciated.

Yes I would just buy a new one it sounds as though the old one has broken Its not worth trying to repair it and risking it failing at MOT time. As you say current is going though and you tested it so its most certain the horn.

Try adjusting the centre nut, it may be too loose or too tight, if not then as Paul says, chuck it in for a new one.

Horns on my 3 Hondas are 30 years old still work fine, start with a quality product and you don't have to keep replacing things, fit a horn of Japper and never have to replace it again

Just taken the horn to bits and discovered what the small Phillips screwonte back is for. It adjusts a contact inside. Put it back together with the contacts just making, and all is well again.

Hi guys--------WILF, it's a High Frequency, "Make-and-Break" circuit which activates a diaphragm to give the sound that you hear...........By adjusting that screw you alter the frequency of the sound.......... Over time the contacts wear or get a deposit on them and the horn either stops completely ( with the contacts maybe welded together) OR it'll work but poorly..... NORM's observations are quite valid and I would take his advice re}--- fit a "Sakai-Squealer" instead........

Thanks for all the sound (intentional pun)advice gents. The thing is, I recently took a tumble and the bike fell quite heavily on the L.H.side. I think the horn hadn't worked since. Sadly I'm on a pretty tight budget, and as a standard replacement would set me back the nicer slice of twenty quid I'm going to have to make do and mend.

They are very simple tools thats for sure. I rewound the twelve volt Altette that my brother had in a box somewhere to make it 6v by unwinding the coil cutting the wire in half and then winding both lengths on in parallel. Works well but I discovered it was pretty much a waste of time as the 12v Altette works fine on 6v anyway.

And Simon I have found the 6 volt works fine on 12 volt (well it still works)time will tell
