Ok gentlemen, I hope you can help. HOW do you get the small circlip for the decompressor onto its grove on the tappet. I have been on for ages and it has now gone awol across the workshop. At this rate it will be going back together without a decompressor lifter

its an 05 Electra x

Hi Davie, I’m guessing that if you want to refit the circlip, a pukka small pair of external circlip pliers would do the trick. When I bought my Electra X it had no decompressor cable fitted and the threaded bracket where the cable sits in the tappet cover was broken. Always started OK if a little more effort required when using the foot, so I fitted the rather fetching tappet cover with Royal Enfield cast in it as supplied by our host and never bothered replacing the cable.
