Trip to Biggin Hill went well, with Tornado getting up the steep Westerham Hill, like it wasn't there.

Decided to stop for a sandwich, and felt a nice glow to park next to a very pretty Meteor Minor. It's owner told me he got the panniers from Hitchcock's of course!

Tornado meets a Meteor Minor near Biggin Hill airport.

Then we made our way to the old RAF buildings at Biggin Hill airport.

Tornado gets dwarfed!

Then back home via a trip down Westerham Hill. Tornado wanted to zoom down it, but sorry mate, bit thin, steep and curvy for your drum brakes!

Biggin is lovely little airport and was a regular haunt of mine in the 60's and where I learned to fly back in the 80's. There used to be a WW2 Lancaster bomber parked up in the middle of the field and nobody ever stopped us walking out and spending the day playing in it. She was finally moved out about 1970 I think. There is another nice hill opposite the field called Saltbox hill which is also a good test of stamina and brakes. When I was a kid I could get my bicycle to over 40mph going down it before I lost my nerve.

If you like whizzing up hills, try the Hardknott and Wrynose passes in the Lake District. I've only done it once but it was great fun.

My oil temperature gauge did a rare trip over 60 Celsius, reaching 65 at the top of Westerham Hill.

The higher temperature helps to help get rid of any moisture in the oil system.
