I'd just had a new back tyre fitted to Thumper. The workshop did a great job but they put greasy finger marks all over Thumper so I decided he needed a polish up and got to it on the lawn in glorious sunshine. Job done, I took him off the centre stand and promptly dropped the bike due to a simple loss of balance. Lesson learned, never get him off the stand unless you are astride the bike.


Here's the resulting injury.. It snapped like the proverbial carrot. Scratch one brake lever.





New one has been ordered...

Bummer, never good when something like this happens, hope that's the only damage.

It's a bummer when that happens, and expensive too. After the first couple of times I always kept the bracket done up just tight enough to keep the lever in the right place, but loose enough to twist round the handlebar if knocked. The MOT guys always seem to take exception to this and make me tighten them up, but of course they know I will simply correct it after leaving LOL.

No Earl, there was no beer involved.. just my own stupidity. £35 odd to get it replaced but hey ho.. one lives and learns.

Hi Exile, definitely a bugger. I've nearly lost mine a couple of times getting it off the centre stand. Being a bit of a short-arse with short-arse legs I find it really hard to get the bike on and off the centre stand while sitting astride it. Is there a knack to it?

MickB.. I've no problems rocking him off the centre stand while I'm sitting on the saddle but there is no way I can put him on the centre stand without dismounting first. I'm a six-footer with a 30" inside leg....
