Hi to every one I am new here,I have a electra 2007 and I cannot remove the primary cover it looks like it has no gasket on it just some gasket cement.i have tried tapping it with a rubber hammer and even a screwdriver on a small lip that is over hanging but it doesn't budge.any help on how I can get off would be appreciated.cheers 2codpete

Mmm sounds like somebodies used something inappropriate as a sealant. In my experience the rubber lace actually does the job remarkably well. You might have to sacrifice the existing one and use a Stanley knife blade to cut it apart. Although it might be worth applying a heat gun to the cover to see if you can provoke a bit of movement.

Should be a gasket on the Electra, unlike the Classic Iron engine which has a fairly fool-proof big "O" ring.
If someone has stuck it on with something then slowly and gently is the order of the day.
If you can get a start somewhere then small hardwood wedges are often useful.
Obviously, don't use anything harder than the alloy.

please don`t be offended, but have you removed ALL the screws holding it on? (According to the parts diag. there are 10.)

Oh I see it is different to the old single bolt version although it took quite a search to find a picture from the Primary side!

----------- just a final though for you}--- DON'T use a gasket cement( ugh !!) or glue on your gasket..Rub grease into it...This will ensure that the casings part freely next time...Make sure that both mating surfaces of the Aluminium are flat and clean--- Tighten the bolts sequentially not just one after the other..This will give you an even clamping force....
