For some reason my 2000-500 Bullet is kicking back when starting; timing is correct, it also does it when the timing is slightly retarded. I now have a sore ankle and am wary of trying more kick starts for the moment. Just thankful that the bike doesn`t have a electric starter or it would surely be in pieces by now. SIGH!

Thanks Alan. I`ll look at the carburettor manifold rubber. Last time it had a split underneath one of the jubliee clips, this made it ping and run like a hairy mountain goat. It doesn`t ping, that`s what is baffling me. I have changed a couple of spark plugs, so that`s not the problem. If it persists, I`ll light a small fire underneath it and go down to the pub.

Plus one with Alan, don't forget the fibre gasket on the manifold in front of the rubber. sometimes a piece of that will blow out on kick back..

Also top up the battery fluid, you may have a dry cell giving only 10 volts to start..

Off to sunny Crete now for two weeks so expect a heat wave across blighty while i'm away, thats what usually happens... Bye all... gwilly
