Did you drain the carb before lay-up? If not the jets could be gummed up or just stale fuel in the float bowl.

Hi guys-------- Just to be certain, do you have the VM28 Micarb fitted ( That's the one with a lever operated choke ) ?? and are you pushing the lever down to operate it ??........... To clean the idling jets ( these are the tiny ones that are probably blocked ) you really need to make use of the ULTRASONIC method.....The fact that it starts OK with the choke ON but fails when it's OFF indicates a weak or a no-fuel situation........Image

Its a Micarb with the black knob on it, up for choke, down for no choke. Whats the ultrasonic method? shouting at it in a high pitched voice? The petrol seems to be coming through from the tank ok

Is your bike a 350 ?? If so then it'll be a VM 24 carb. Incidentally that is stricly speaking a "Fuel Enrichment Device" as opposed to a choke............Have a look at this for ULTRASONIC cleaning >>>>>>>> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P6yo-shHq4g ------------

Alan, the 350 choke plunger will fit on the 500 carb. If I was Mr H I'd be selling it as an option as it's a lot neater.
