I have Cyclon gel batteries in a number of my low useage bikes. Hold their charge for well over a year without looking at a charger or battery monitor. If you have an exposed black battery on an old bike then cut out the innards and place the Cyclon inside. If it is a more modern machine with concealed battery just fit the Cyclon in the space. It will work in any position, but like most gels it should not be fitted upside down. They are available in 6 and 12 volt and I usually get an 8 or 10 amp version. ebay is your friend for these.

On my first Harley I fitted a couple of lead acid batteries and it spewed acid down the breather pipe. I switched to the Harley gel battery and no more problems.
I got rid of the Harley and kept the battery :) Bloody heavy though.
I have gone through a sh*t load of Chinese batteries on my diesel bike, never again!

I would like to make a capacitor battery, one day I'll get around to it, when I can find the parts cheep enough.

I have always used Burlen dry cell batteries which have always lasted for years. I have them on all my bikes and would never go back to horrible acid batteries again. £23 incl p&p.

My Bullet still has the "Exide" battery it came with when new six years ago.
I have topped it up ;twice I think.
No complaints there then!!
