Dont worry gents Bertie won't be chopped, I was just thinking a repaint and possibly some shorter mudguards and single seat if the wallet will stretch, I've just been to bike night down at the Oakdene cafe in Kent and saw a Suzuki with white lettering on the tyres and must say it looks the dogs doo dars, so that will be done after I sort the rusty trailing arm.

Most people on here are looking for information, ideas and problem solving. They don't think of others needs. Self-interest. Human nature, sadly. It is better to give than receive is not part of their mindset, which is irritating but that is the way. I hope your post encourages others to think of giving.

If you really look at it there is probably a max of 10/15 regular posters with a number of posters only putting in one post to sell a bike or ask a question, never to hear from them again. No problem with this it is just how it is with forums

Wouldn't get too excited Scalyback, it's a bit of a Dump if I'm honest but as I only live down the road it's handy, however I'm up for an Enfield meet there.

Well, the original 'GT Madness' posting has passed onto page 2 of the forum and so into history, but let's keep this one going for Bertie!

I also have a feeling that Tornado may well make a new friend next month, as I am planning to visit the UK for probably the most of May.

And would love to take Bertie up on the all day brekkie offer, Will let you all know when I am due back, maybe more would like to come?

I will leave the last words for the late, great, and sadly missed Wilf Green.

Hi Bertie. I know what you mean about forum response on here. What I have observed is if the question or comment is of a technical nature then the response is generally pretty good as their are a lot of knowledgeable people around. If the question is more subjective i.e. what do you think of whitewall tyres the level of response can be pretty low. Sometimes the forum can be surprising and go completely off piste (trains spring to mind) and that is what makes it interesting. Its a bit like going down the pub really when you think about it.

Bertie hi, I'm pretty new to the Forum and I've only really started looking at it again since I bought the new GT last autumn. Though I've had a couple of Enfields before, a Sixty-5 and a 2009 EFI Classic. What strikes me most is the huge variety of contributions and yes I'm struck by the fact that people, a lot of people, look at a Post and them make no comment on it. But actually some of the Posts don't really need a reply. Also, the way the forum works means that once something drops off the 1st page, rather like the 2nd page on Google which nobody ever looks at, the Post is kind of "gone". There are a couple of things that could alter that - if the way that the posts were tagged was more useful and secondly if the latest replies appeared at the top of the topic and not at the bottom. Also, if the topic was commented on then if it automatically reappeared on the front page it would make the forum run in a much more lively way. But of course it isn't actually a database of knowledge at the moment is really just a message board, however, in amongst the replies there are some nuggets of wisdom – as well as opinion and sometimes prejudice. And, as I said in my post on the new GT I'm always looking for a balanced view on something, not polarisation. What is a bit weird is reading about a bike, not necessarily on the forum, but elsewhere which I've owned and ridden a lot and simply not recognising it. And maybe it's just me but living in London in the 60s and 70s and riding bikes a lot and fixing them for other people, I have to say we never came across Enfields – apart from the lad who had one of the original GTs.
