somebody has to "Man-up" and tell him the Electra decompressor/
valve lifter is a pile of crap and using it can lead to breaking the tappet and replacing the tappet is a pig of a job that takes a lot of work to replace and without a sprag you don't to use need the decompressor when stopping the motor

Ah-ha !! NORM--------I'd missed that Electra X reference as it was in small print in his original post....Point taken matey.... VAL use kick starter for starting and the kill-switch or key to stop..IMHO that is...

Hi lads thanks for your halp,I will have a go at doing the job myself I was thinking of doing away with the starter altogether, dont know if it's much trouble.got chain case and bits off,better buy some extractors. I do work on old cars,classic fords mainly, cooling,rads,heaters,fuel tanks, but once again, thanks.
