Hi Guys,

I am just dropping in to introduce myself.

My name is Steve and I am a Yorkshireman, exiled in Denmark for the past 8 years.

I have 3 bikes at the moment. A 1996 Moto Guzzi California 1100i, a Yamaha XT 250 Serow from 2006 and a 1956 Moto Guzzi 65cc Cardellino which I have just about restored.

I now have a hankering for a 500 Bullet but having read about Gordons India journey, I am a bit apprehensive.

Are only some Bullets forever breaking down or are they all forever breaking down or are they like all Moto Guzzis. Once you have sorted them, you have a good ùn?

HELLO STEVE !!!!!!!! Big-time welcome to you over there (you anywhere near the TUBORG Brewery ?? ) I also have been in the Moto-Guzzi scene with a V50 Mk2 ( no cracks in the heads ), a STRADA 1000--that was an odd beast. Neither cruiser or tourer. AND THE CALI. 1100i as well (Wish I had kept that one---- Ireland, IoM, Ace Cafe, never let me down AT ALL !!!). I also have had/currently own Indian Royal Enfield 500cc Bullets and to my mind there is a lot of similarity between the two makes. Bottom-end torque, slow changing gearboxes with a "surprise-neutral" now and then, "adequate" electrics, paintwork that appears stuck on. BUT, the Italian engineering is much better. Push-rod OHV's that a home mechanic is capable of maintaining. Oils that are easy to find (straight 20/50 for the engine, ATF for forks and primary, ) and here comes the contractual part }----- PLENTY OF SPARES, UPGRADES ETC FROM OUR HOSTS !!!!! There are many different variants even amongst the iron-barrelled bikes to suit all tastes. Cheap to insure too. If you enjoy a CHALLENGE ?---If you enjoy doing your OWN MAINTENANCE ? ---- If the journey is more important to you than the speed ??--- then you WILL fit in quite well, I'm sure. I know I did and don't REgret it. HONESTLY. PS Given that all your bikes are L/H change then there are even models to cater for that as well-------- for example the iron barrelled Bullet Sixty Five or the later ELECTRA models or the current range of fuel-injected ones. And they all go }----THUMP--THUMP--THUMP !! PS Photos were being uploaded from photobucket etc very recently. Has this been stopped now then SINCORDIA ??

I am now looking for an Enfield, not sure which, but something cheap and cheerful to have a play with.
