I'm subtly bobbing my 08 Sixty-5, and I want to fit a slightly fatter rear tyre. I've already stripped down the back end, removed the side frames and binned the original mudguard and tail light unit I favor of an alloy mudguard and small custom light but wondered if there are any issues of a 4.10" x 19" tyre rubbing in the swing arm or chain guard?
Thanks
Ian

Hi Ian, I have a 410 / 19 Avon Roadrunner [original pattern] on the back of my Indian 350 Bullet and that is very similar to the K81 and fits with no problems. Incidentally, a 410 section tyre is narrower than a 400 section and about the same as a 350 section. Regards, Paul.

Ok, please excuse my ignorance but how is a 4.1x19" narrower than a 4x19" tyre?

Thanks
Ian

If the new mudguard is the same width as the old one; don`t do it, the tyre will surely rub on the wiring. This is my Bullet`s mudguard; the standard tyre had rubbed briefy on the wiring after 34000kms. I pulled the wiring back into the numberplate housing and secured it a zip tie.

Hi Ian, I am not sure why the tyre manufacturers did it, but a 3.50 x 18, or 19 or whatever else can be replaced by a 4.10 section, which is about the same section and ties up with about 100/90 in modern speak. A 3.25 size can be replaced by a 3.60 section tyre, this being slimmer than the old 3.50 size and equivalent to about 90/90 section in modern speak. The old 4.00 section tyres are quite 'fat' looking, much wider [and deeper] than a 4.10 and a close match for this size would be a 4.25/85 size, or 110/90 [possibly even 120/90]. As an example, my Honda CB500T should have a 3.50 or 4.10 x 18 rear tyre, but I wanted a wider one, so fitted a 4.25/85 x 18 K81 TT100. The front should be 3.25 x 19, so I fitted a 3.60 x 19 K81 TT100. The 4.10 x 19 Roadrunner I have on my 350 Bullet is no wider than any 3.50 size I have seen, but the 4.10 x 19 K81, as found on many Tridents and Rocket 3's look like they are a fraction wider than the equivalent Roadrunner [IMHO]. Regards, Paul.

Thanks for that, it makes sense but only just! So anyway I've now ordered a heidenau k34 in 4x19" I'm after a fat tyre and I'm just hoping this will do the trick, if it any good I'll go for a 3.5x19" on the front.
