Morning all. TLS front brake on my 2006 Bullet keeps "gumming up". The brake sticks in the on position after I let the lever go. The lever and the cable go slack, so the problem is in the brake mechanism itself. I've taken it to bits, cleaned and greased the cams and pivots (several times). This improves things, maybe for a couple of weeks, sometimes only for a few days. Any suggestions? Thanks, Ed.

I had this on my year 2000 500cc Bullet. Didnt dismantle anything, but cleaned up the external moving parts.... brake, not cable and squirted a SMALL amount of wd40 round the pivot. Meanwhile squeezing the brake lever on and off to try and ensure it got in everywhere... but obviously not so much it was all over the brake_shoes..I dont know if that will work on yours but its dead easy to do and mine is still working perfectly now; ATB Chris

Hi Ed. I've not had this problem on my Enfield, but I've come across it with other makes of drum brake. You say that everything is cleaned and lubricated, so: 1) the linings could be so worn that the operating cam is almost going over-centre, 2) ditto the brake drum itself, 3) the brake shoe return springs could 'tired' and needing replacement. No doubt there will some more good suggestions along soon. Good luck.
