Hi matey-------- thanks for those leads on Regimental markings for a DR bike---- very helpful indeed as was the links for paint etc.....Watch-out that water doesn't turn into BLACK ICE !!!! LoL....Get yourself some Ex-Firemans boots off E-Bay ... Nice and TALL and waterproof !!.....Mine cost £35 plus the P&P...........---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------These are my "General Use" boots from SCREWFIX at £26..............................

Simon you have a Woodsman, right? How are you finding the bike, the riding position etc? Can I ask what height you are, given the knobbly tyres and the padded seat add an inch or so? Just bought one!

I have an EFI Woodsman in France named Thunderbolt due to the wicked noise from the exhaust!

I also have a much older classic home market army type bullet named Tornado, which is in the clip above.



I am what used to be called 6 foot 3 inches, and have always felt a little cramped in planes, cars, and those 'dodgems' at the fair!



The woodsman riding position seems to work well for me, but then I started on a Suzuki A100 two-stroke, where my knees and upper legs were higher than the tank, and very useful to pop a bag of shopping on, or lunch, etc.


I find the EFI Woodsman a very stable and reliable ride as it has never let me down yet, but the styling means that you would really need a backpack to carry anything, as there is only room to just about squeeze the toolkit in, and that is about that. I even have to carry a small box on the rack to carry spare bulbs, spark plug and some additional tools such as adjustable spanner and the essential locktite plus some bungees and cable ties just in case. Due to the high level exhaust, throw over pannier bags seem to be ruled out as well!



I removed the rear footrests as they were not actually doing anything, the bike having a single seat!

Always carry a tube or lipstick version of locktite. The rear light and numberplate assembly fell off within the first three days, but the locktite has stopped it working loose again. Left footrest came loose too, but having done that as well, I have had no further problems with my Woodsman in 5 months!



If yours is an EFI and you find it runs unevenly on tickover, then just try a tank of 97-98 super unleaded, as mine got very happy after I fed it that! I get more miles per tank than I do on normal unleaded, and the tickover became very steady as soon as i stopped putting 95 in!



I hope you have as much fun including the slightly snobby feeling of 'My bike looks better than yours!', as you park up somewhere, where every other bike looks rather plastic, but there is only one place where my Woodsman looks at home as shown below!

Thanks, mine is in black and chrome and came from CG Chell in Stafford, it was the last new Woodsman available I believe. The PDI was poor and they managed to overfill the engine oil, such that it spurted out the kickstart. I want to put hosts trials bars on as being short, I want the pull back position and a touch more height which will make the riding position more comfortable, however the existing bars seem to have the left hand grip glued on and an anti-short fixture of some kind so it does not appear a straight forward replacement job. 'Rearsets' look rather feeble and not for true off-roading but I wont be doing that! Will probably replace ensign tyres with Avon roadriders as it will bring the bike down an inch, improve roadholding and with the current set up the sidestand engages at too lean an angle for my preference. These are all tweakable but it is a good value at the price I think.

Interesting, as when new, I changed the Avon speedmasters for ensign universals!



seems that not all new Woodsmans had the same spec!
