Norm you are right it is a schizophrenic experience - one day it is brilliant the next down right depressing. I am hoping the efi woodsman will be a bit more flat lining emotionally speaking as I have too much else on the go.

Ok guys I haven't been put off , just haven't been near a keyboard. As for the 28 stone that is correct I weigh 16 ish stone without my riding gear and my partner is about 12 stone. The times it will be 2up are few and far between, I have my 1100 for that sort of work any 2up will be local runs for a coffee etc ie 20-30 miles and all back roads. There is a decision being made this weekend and it looks more and more like it will be an Efi, that way Claire will be able to ride it ok ( she tried her brothers classic and struggled with the upside down gear change). I have also heard of a 350 locally that may be at the right price I.e cheap needing work that could become diesel powered . So as they say watch this space

diesel powered? i wouldn't bother with the Enfield diesel..i'd stick a 290 Cummins or a straight 8 Gardner 240 in..that would be great fun!

Staight 8 gardner Its been a while since I worked on one of them. Would you fit it in-line or across the frame, don't think it would need a gearbox

hi DAVIE NOW YOUR TALKING DON,T BUY A ENFIELD DIESEL BUILD ONE I DID I RUN A YANMAR CLONE 406 10BHP and its no slower than a standard 350 petrol i know i had one and the big bonus is 150 miles to the gallon run it on veg oil bio etcetc not forgetting my special fuel mix my diesel cruises all day at a clocked 57mph there is also a twin cylinder kubota engine that fits in a enfield that type cruises at 70 mph with well over 100 miles to the gallon 2 up anyway get an enfield this could go into 4 pages

Hi Grunda. I didn't know you could put a twin cyl diesel in the 350 frame, now that sounds interesting. I only heard of the 350 last night. From what I know its a 1990 ish bike the engine seized about 10-12 years ago and its been lying in the back of the garage ever since. I assume it will be cosmetically challenged to say the least so am hoping it will be very cheap .Where would I find details of the twin cylinder conversion .

Hi Dave just to add my humble suggestion DO have a trial run and get the feel of both bikes , do not expect mind blowing performance , but do expect an enjoyable experience .I recently sold my beloved (but troublesome)Bullet and purchased a jap bike , do not have any problems with my present bike but the enfield has the edge for pleasurable riding(not at high speeds)and is so easy to maintain with parts from our hosts if you have a mechanical background .
