Just a little feedback for all the guys who offered advice and support..

Worried as I was about my technical abilities, I successfully stripped out the old tea caddy and tool box filter, dismounted the carb after reading the available notes and set about opening the carb. Something I've never done before.

Turns out, it was easy-peasy. Rejetting was not the hellish job I thought it might be and fitting the new S&B filter and shroud was done on the table top in the living room. (Don't tell my missus!) I also found out that the little locking attachment for the choke lever was loose and wasn't lined up properly, so I fixed that while I was at it. Now I no longer need to hold the choke lever down when starting.

I took the whole lump of carb plus filter and it fell nicely into place with very little fettling required.

Thumper fired up on the third attempt and I have roughly set the tickover. Cold weather and bad light have stopped play for today.

More fiddling about in the shed in the morning then, and maybe a trial run if the roads are dry and ice free..

Always satisfying doing a job yourself. Remember though that you should set the slow running with the engine well warmed up so after a decent run. S.

Hi Exile ... slightly off topic. You mentioned in the original thread on an air filter that there are not many Enfield on the roads here in Denmark. This is very true, but occationally you spot one. If this is not enough for you maybe the danish RE club is something for you (Royal Enfield Klub Danmark). Not many members, but more Royal Enfields than in the streets... all the best Jacob (located in Copenhagen)

Jacob.

MÃ¥ske er det her grunden til, at jeg ikke kan komme ind i Yahoo gruppen..

For at opnå adgang til alle poster,
kræver det at man er medlem af klubben
"Royal Enfield Klub Danmark", og har betalt
medlemskontigent.

I'll bet that confuses a lot of people here!

Something like this }-----Perhaps it is here for that reason that I am not able to come into the Yahoo group.. To gain access to all of the records, it requires that you are a member of the club ' Royal Enfield Club Denmark', and have paid your fee..... ?????

Maybe Alan has hidden talents, or maybe he has a thing with Denmark. Living here it is easy to get that. Living abroad, I would like to think, it might be tempting too... Exile, my mail is [email protected]. You can reach me there. Also it might be worth contemplating on becoming a member of the local RE club. I believe we have other members in Kastrup too... Jacob
